That Boy by Jillian Dodd Review

That Boy (That Boy, #1)

That Boy is a contemporary romance about falling in love with the boys next door.

You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.

There's Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.

Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth.  Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me.  And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.

One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy

Jen's review

Cute and fun story! I love books where they grow up together and fall in love.
This book leaves you guessing though - because JJ grew up with two boys, and falls in love with both of them.. but .. she only ends up with one! WHICH ONE!?!? ha ha ha yeah - that's what you'll be reading about..

Jayden James Reynolds - the book starts off with the ending. Telling us about her First date with her mysterious BFF - They don't tell us who asked her to marry her on the first date, just that the jerk was so confident that she would say yes, that he gathered everyone together for an Engagement party.. on their first date!!!

But yeah - ok, maybe their first date in technical terms, Since she grew up with these boys.
We flash back to the past when JJ and Phillip were friends since they were born. Their parents were friends in collage, and they lived on the same street. They were only a few months apart.

JJ was a bossy girl, but not as bossy as Phillips Sister, who always had to be the queen. Which left J.J. to be the Princess, and Phillip to be Prince Charming. But what Phillips sister didn't realize. it was more fun to be the princess, and Phillip had more fun slaying dragons to save his princess :)

Their first kiss at 10 years old was cute, then things changed when Danny moved in. Their families became friends instantly. But Danny didn't want J.J. to play with Phillip because she was a girl.

Well J.J. was able to change his mind real fast when she hit him. Ever since then Danny and J.J. and Phillip were the best of friends.

They went through everything together, Her first Kiss, her first make out session lol that was funny -
But growing up they still had a life of their own, dating other people and hanging out. but most of Danny's and Phillips girlfriends were always jealous of J.J.'s relationship with the boys. They were friends forever, and no matter what, they would always be friends.
Even some of J.J.'s boyfriends were intimidated - Danny, the star quarterback in high school, then collage, and Phillip, who worked out with Danny every day was just as hot!

when things get complicated in Jay's life with her current on and off and on again boyfriend, Danny comes to her rescue. And when Danny gets in a fight, Phillip comes to her rescue and brings her home.
As if her feelings don't get confused enough, pretty soon her whole life turns upside down.

This was really a good book to read. Emotions up and down and all over the place.
J.J. and Danny love to play hard and have fun. And they enjoy being together.
J.J. and Phillip are total opposites. Phillip is grounded and plans out everything, but he still knows how to have a good time. Just has to make sure everything is in order.. and that drives J.j. Crazy.

It's fun trying to figure out who she's going to end up with. Because she is really good with both of them.

I may even let my 14 year old daughter read this.

I loved Jayden's humor in this book, so I'm sure they'll just get better :)
