Seven Days (Highland Home #3)by Shari Richardson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
YA - PNR
The pain was sharp and deep, but it was nothing compared to the anguish in Xavier's eyes. I wanted to tell him I would be okay, but the words wouldn't come. The pain kept them at bay and even if I could have spoken, I knew the words would be a lie.
Kerry Cote has a pretty normal life for a teenager. Of course normal is a relative term. Her sister dates a vampire and her boyfriend turns furry once a month, but that's not the problem. It isn't until she meets the father of the man she loves that her whole existence narrows to a mere seven days.
I have to say, this was probably the best of the series, so far.
I LOVE Kerry and Xavier! I think it was a nice change in the story to do this one in Kerry's POV.
The book starts off a little after the last book. Xavier and Kerry are happy as can be, we still don't get the story about how they got together, other than the "look" they did in the first book, but we're over that now :)
Xavier is taking Kerry to Florida to meet his parents for his 17th birthday.
Xavier has had a good life growing up. His mom and dad love him very much, and they're very much in love with each other. But when Xavier was 7, he was attacked by the were-panther. His mom knew he needed more, so he stayed with his Grandma, while his mom and dad went back to Florida. But that was probably the best thing that they could have done for him. because he has grown into the wonderful young man he is today. Now as the head of the Pride in East Hampton, and now with Kerry by his side.
Kerry was nervous meeting Xavier’s parents. But her sister Marian reassured her that Xavier wouldn't be bringing her to meet them if he didn't think she was worthy of it..
So when the plane landed, and Dot (Xavier’s mom) opened her arms up to Kerry, she couldn't help but feel like she just got home.
Things were going great at the birthday party, until one drunk guy walked up the house. Dot and Tyler did their best to shield this stranger away from Xavier, but that wasn't going to happen with his were-panther hearing.
Xavier decided to listen to this man.. this man who claims to be his biological father. But that didn't mean anything to Xavier. Because he had a father. Tyler was a great man, and was there throughout Xavier’s life. And he didn't want it any other way.
Lane wasn't too happy with the way Xavier took to the news about having a new father.. in fact, he was downright pissed off!
Back in New Hampton, things are starting to get a little crazy again. This time it's not a vampire out killing people. But Xavier, head of the pack, knows that it is a were that is killing.. and it's his job to find out who. But Kerry already knows who… Find out, how
Like I said, I liked this story a lot! It was cute. sure very predictable, but it was still worth the read :)

Eternity. How many times since Mathias came into my life had I considered it? Had I not taken risks that would have left us together for eternity? What I hadn't expected was to have the choice taken from us. Vampires are independent creatures and the old ones definitely don't like being bound to a human. When an ancient vampire comes to Highland Home bent on Mairin's desctruction so he can free himself from his bond to her, Mathias is forced to choose between what he is and who he wishes to be.
Jen's Review
I struggled through the first two books, I loved the third book, and this one was just as good.
It's told in Marin’s POV again - but the things that happen in this book.. wow
So let’s start off with when Octavio pacing in Mathias's living room. Talking to Alfred. Octavio is really upset by the bond that Marian has over the vampires. He doesn't want to bow down to a human.
So he asks Alfred why he hasn't killed her yet.
Alfred explains that if he did, Mathias would not forgive Alfred. so Octavio says he'll take care of things...
Marian wakes from her dream and lets Mathias know what's going on.
Later the next day, Marian, Kerry and Xavier head over to talk to Mathias.
Just as Marian walks in the door, Alfred starts giving her attitude. He will not bow to her weak human self, bla bla bla...
Mathias gets upset and defends his love, but that' just pisses Alfred off more.
When Marian and the Cats head over to her house to hang out until Mathias comes back, they get bored. everyone dozing off, but something startled Marian awake.. and she barely had time to see what was coming at her before she felt his hand wrap around her throat. She couldn’t get a voice to scream. But Gino jumped on his back and ripped his head off.
When Marian woke up after losing consciousness, she hear her mom screaming..
Trying to explain what was going on was going to be hard..
"Calm down mom"
"Calm down? Why does everyone tell me to calm down? There's a headless body in my living room, some stranger who won't let me near my daughter who was knocked out cold, and a room full of boys acting like soldiers. Nothing to be upset about."
Glad she felt that way.. You gotta love their mom. Because next thing she knew, Tawyna and her mom were on a plane to Mathias's house in Malabo to spend Christmas without their girls? Yeah, but at least they were safe and out of harm’s way.
As if one vampire attack on Marian wasn't enough, when she was at Xavier’s house just chilling out, once again, she was attacked. The Panthers were able to get him off of her, and once again Gino was there to make sure everything was taken care of the right way.
Mathias wasn't happy at all about what was going on. But with Marin’s dreams gone, they had no way of predicting what would happen next.
Going to Mathias's house seemed like the most logical thing to do. Where he and the 20 something Vamps that were under her bond would be there to protect her..
That is until Mathias got a call from his Maker.... Dum dum dummmmmm
Yes that's right folks... Marian's humanity has been more than threatened in this book..
I was a little disappointed about this, but since there is another book coming up, I'm curious about where this story is headed.
Lots of battles and emotions in this one... the ending was awesome :) But it's NOT the end of the series......
