Nothing but Trouble by Rachel Gibson

Nothing But Trouble (Chinooks Hockey Team, #5)Nothing But Trouble by Rachel Gibson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 5 of the Chinook Hockey series - I wasn't sure I'd like this one - I'm not a big fan of those celebrity types that get hurt and hold a grudge against the world, but Mark's story was different ...

Chelsea Ross' acting career has been a total bust. The closest she ever came to stardom was her brilliant performance as "Pretty Dead Girl #1." But leaving Hollywood to become the personal assistant to a famous hockey player could be her stupidest career move ever.

More Trouble...

Injured superstar Mark Bressler's glory days are over. The bad-boy ex-jock could at least be civil to the pint-sized, pink-haired bombshell who the Seattle Chinooks hired to be his P.A. If Chelsea didn't need the money, she'd be running from the world's biggest jerk as fast as her feet could carry her.

Big Trouble!

Chelsea can deal with Mark's rotten attitude and dark moods. The problem is those biceps and that red-hot bod! And when the bad boy starts to put the moves on her, Chelsea knows it's time she banished him to the penalty box...if only she could resist the kind of trouble he has in mind

Jen's Review:

We start off with Mark at the press conference the day after the team won the Stanley Cup - Mark didn't want to be there.. He had his good days and his bad days, this was a bad day. He hurt, a lot - and he didn't think he should be there. Sure he brought the team to the playoffs, and for 6 years he was the captain of the team. The players respected him and knew that Mark was suppose to be there. But Mark couldn't help but feel let down. He should have been out on the ice playing. But since his accident, he could hardly move without pain.

The Chinook's team kept sending health care workers to his house. He hated having to depend of people to help him out. So he did what he could to make them quit since he couldn't fire them. He had been taking care of himself for so long, he didn't need help. And he certainly didn't want it.

When Chelsea showed up at Mark's door, she had been warned about his bad attitude and trying to get rid of her. The team had bribed her with $10,000 bonus if she could stay with Mark for 3 months.
She needed that money for her breast reduction. So she put her acting skills to work, and made Mark let her inside.

She had told him that she wasn't a health care provider, she was an assistant. She had worked for celeberties before, and knew how their attitudes were. So she was ready for Mark.

But Mark wasn't ready for her. He still didn't want her around. But once she started making her way into his dreams, he couldn't shut her out.

She was helping him get better, both physically and mentally, and he started to like having her spunky little attitude hanging around.

Things started heating up between them, but Chelsea couldn't keep up her feelings for him when she was working for him.. well he wasn't paying her, but she was still working for him.. and she couldn't forget about the bonus she would be getting in 3 months.

He found ways to keep his distance from her.
But once when he was sleeping, she came to the chaise he was laying on and tried to wake him up. Still thinking he was dreaming, he pulled her down to him. And kissed her.
Tired of fighting the attraction, she let him.

Things weren't very pleasant after that, but the attraction was still there.

Great book - I loved how Mark found himself in here. When Chelsea came to his house, he was at his darkest. He was about as low as he could feel. But Chelsea brought the sunshine back into his life.

Looking forward to the last book - Sam's story - then again, not looking forward to it being the last story :(
