Review: Intentional Abduction (Alien Abduction #2) by Eve Langlais

October 8th 2011 by self published        Intentional Abduction (Alien Abduction #2) by Eve Langlais
October 8th 2011
She intentionally abducted him because of his prowess, so, when the chance arose, he stole her for revenge--and to relieve his lust.

Aylia is on a quest to get pregnant, and in the time-honored tradition of her people, she must kidnap a suitable male for the task. Seducing the reluctant warrior is harder than she expected, especially when her body turns traitor and melts at his touch. When he flips the situation around and takes her prisoner, he doesn’t just steal her body. He also takes her heart. And she might just have to kill him to get it back.

Being the scourge of the galaxy comes with consequences, like women wanting his body, but Jaro’s never had someone kidnap him for his seed. Fighting the female’s allure, the captive becomes the captor, and he learns that not all battles are fought using fists and knives. Although, the sword between his legs gives her its best shot.

Through the vastness of space, brothels and unmentionable places in between, can this stubborn pair overlook their pride and past to come together? Or will they forever abduct and pleasurably torture each other?

LLLKINDLE 60x90 My Review:
Rating: 5/5 stars

I said it before and I will say it again... Purple is my new favorite color.  The cover might just throw you for a loop... "Wth's with the purple skin?" but I assure you it ceases to be an issue.

My new favorite catch phrase is, "Eve Fever."  I just love Eve's work.  I wish I could read faster or had more free time because I would just devour everything.  Science fiction romance has quickly crawled its way into my mind and taken residence.  Thanks to Eve and a few other Authors, I am thoroughly enjoying sfr.

Intentional Abduction features Jaro who after being burned by a woman vowed to never let another into his heart again.  But his bed is a whole other story.  Aylia, is a human woman, a warrior, who from a young age was raised on a planet far away from Earth and was taught within customs that she soon realizes are not for her.

What happens when the tables get turned on you?  Aylia knows all too well what happens.  After she sets out to capture Jaro for his prowess he then turns around and captures her instead.  Abductor turned prisoner.  Intentional Abduction is a fascinating tale of space tango.  Both warriors filled with pride and each not wanting to express his or her's true feelings.  The results is a tango as entertaining as any other and a romance that's fuzzy bunnies sweet.

Gladly, I rate this title 5 stars because I indulgently enjoyed every chapter.  However, I do see a slight lack in storyline outside of the mated pair, action.  There is action but I fear that it's not enough for those readers who prefer romance as a side dish.  With me and my 'romance appetite' I have no quams... 'romance for the main course please,' I say.  Ah, but never fear there is indeed enough action for me and enough of it to have a healthy respect for both warriors, Jaro and Aylia. Suffice to say they create quite a pair in and out of the bed.

All in all, I fiercely enjoyed this title and looking forward to Dual Abduction.  If the teaser and title have anything to say in regards to its content then looks like I am gearing up for on hell of a space adventure.

Interview & Giveaway with Thea Harrison, Author

Elder Races series by Thea Harrison

Thea Harrison is my new favorite author.  I was/am beyond impressed with Dragon Bound and then Storm's Heart.  I'm certainly looking forward to cracking open Serpent's Kiss.  Without further ado, please welcome Thea Harrison here and feel free to enter a giveaway to win on of her titles from The Book Depository.  (Posting a day early since I will not be around much tomorrow)

-Could you tell potential readers about your novel(s)?
I write paranormal romances that have characters who misbehave, get into fights, and have rambunctious sex.

-What can we expect from the Elder Races series?
The Elder Races series is a large world, and eventually I would love to get around to telling something about each of the seven demesnes in the U.S.  The stories connect with each other, with the emphasis on the personal relationship in each one.

I try to craft stories that are suited to each couple I write about.  For example, Serpent’s Kiss (book three) is not Storm’s Heart (book two), and Storm’s Heart is not Dragon Bound (book one).  My hope is that this strategy will give the series a wider, more durable appeal than it might otherwise have had.

I’m also writing book five, which is a follow up to Pia and Dragos.  It’s great to revisit them!  Contractually, you can definitely expect six books (along with six audio books!) and an e-novella.  Anything else is potential.

-Why dragons, thunderbirds and gryphons?
Because they’re awesome fun.  Plus the guys are hot.  I don’t think dragons are all that unusual, but the thunderbirds and gryphons are, so hopefully there’s a little newness thrown in the character mix.

-Can you tell us a bit about the Paranormal world you’ve created?
The world I’ve created is an alternative Earth universe, set in the present day.  There’s magic (often referred to as Power), passageways that lead to other dimensions, and the Elder Races that live openly alongside humankind.  It creates a melting pot of cultures where almost anything could happen.

-Who would enjoy your novels? ie. Readers who love nitty gritty action with a touch of romance.
Readers who love sensual PNR that has both suspense and a touch of humor.

-What advice would you give to a reader looking for a good book?
Personally, I would suggest that a reader glance through reviews but not spend too much time on them, because reviews are subjective and people have different opinions.  One reviewer might connect with a story, while other one may not.  If you are intrigued by a book, I recommend looking at a story for yourself and reading the first five pages.  That’s easy to do these days with sample chapters online.

-Describe your ideal setting when working and relaxing.
My ideal setting when I’m working AND relaxing is a quiet environment.  When I’m writing, sometimes I listen to music, but most times I don’t.  I like looking at greenery.  Where I live currently, we have a view of pine trees out the front window.  It’s very peaceful.

-Many times I've read how characters are an extension of the author.  Have you bonded with your characters on a personal level?  How do you view your characters?
I think characters have to be an extension of the author in some form, because they come from the author’s imagination.  I like my characters.   I think they’re fun and interesting.  I have some that I have “bonded with” more than others, and others I have connected to in a more intellectual fashion.  To me, that means some of them flow better when I’m writing a draft, while others I have to pause and think about more often, because their re/actions aren’t necessarily immediately obvious.

I will confess, though, I have not yet written my ideal wish-fulfillment character, because I’m not sure how much market appeal this character would have.  Perhaps in the next five years or so, I can wiggle out enough time for myself to explore the character and see if a publisher might be interested.

-Where do you draw your inspiration from?
No one source.  Everything.  I have a Chia-Pet head for ideas.  They just sprout.

-Is there anything you are currently working on that you would like to share with us?
Book five, Pia and Dragos’s story, picks up six months after the summer in which books one to four happen.  For those who are curious, Pia is still pregnant with the peanut.

-Is there a genre that you'd like to attempt a hand at?
I might like to try my hand at a contemporary thriller, but I have no plans currently to pursue this.  It’s just a vague daydream.

-Name a few children titles that you love.
I haven’t looked at the story since I’ve grown up, but I’m told that I read Black Beauty ten or eleven times.  I adored The Black Stallion, and yes, I did read every single Nancy Drew book in my school’s library.  And certainly I loved C. S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia, and J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.  And I was utterly scandalized and horrified by Beverly Cleary’s hilarious Beezus and Ramona.

-Why do you think the paranormal romance genre is so appealing to readers?
I think PNR has a cross-genre appeal.  Readers who enjoy sci-fi and fantasy might be more likely to pick up a PNR than they would a contemporary historical romance.  Also, PNR allows for a greater range of imagination, in world-building, mythologies, character abilities, and events.  I also think as readers we can accept certain behaviors from our PNR characters that we would never accept from contemporary romances, or especially real life people.
************************

-What is the last book you read?
The last thing(s) I read were novellas.  I wasn’t well, so I took a sick day and gobbled down Ilona Andrews’ Silent Blade and Silver Shark.  The stories are set in the same universe, and short enough to enjoy in an afternoon, and I thought they were absolutely wonderful.  I will warn readers that there were several typos, but other than that, I really enjoyed them.

-What is the last movie you seen in the theaters?
Cowboys & Aliens.  Critically, it wasn’t the best film I’ve seen, but it was a lot of fun!

-What is the last song you sang at the top of your lungs?
“Maybe This Time” from Cabaret, with Lea Michele and Kristin Chenoweth.  See, I just found the link to share, and I started listening, and then I had to sing along again…

-What is the last song you sang in the shower?
I don’t sing in the shower.  For me, it’s the car, because I put a CD in the player and then one thing leads to another.  No doubt I look like a lunatic.  Eh, well.

-Can you name something off your Bucket List?
I’ve never created a Bucket List.   But I have always wanted to travel to the Caribbean.  Does that count?

-What is your favorite season?
Spring and Fall.  They’re so colorful, and the temperatures are (usually) mild.
 ************************

Cats or dogs?
I love both, and I have had cats before.  I have family who is allergic to cats, so I think I’m sticking to dogs from here on out.

Paperback or Hardback?
Definitely paperback.

Coffee or tea?
I love both, but I drink coffee more often.

Physical book or eBook?
Not easy!  Ebooks for the quick fix; paperbacks for the long term keeper shelf.

Cake or pie?
Cake!

Sushi: Nigiri or maki?
Never.  The thought of sushi makes me shudder.

Vamps or Shifters?
Shifters.  Less chance of getting bitten.

PJ party with the gals or LNO @ the club?
PJ party!  Woot!

Pedi or mani?
Both.  Oh, all right, if you made me pick just ONE, I’d pick the pedi.

Make it or Buy It?
I don’t make things, alas.  So I’d buy.

Angels or Demons?
Hybrids.  Not too bad, not too good.

*Poof* Magic Wand- what do you make happen?
I actually like the thought of whirled peas.

Guilty indulgence?
Right now, it’s the new ABC evening soap opera, Revenge.  It’s so much fun!  But I wonder how they’ll try to carry the idea past the first season?  Hmmm.

Jen's Reviews: Princess of Hell Trilogy by Eve Langlais

Jen and I both have the "Eve Fever."  Between Jen and I our reading preferences somewhat diversify but mostly overlap.  With Eve she writes with innovative diversity that I assure you there is something of her's for everyone.  The Princess of Hell trilogy was reviewed by Jen so thank you Jen.  For myself, I just finished Eve's Scifi Romance, Intentional Abduction and I loved it!  For cohesiveness, I am reposting the review of book one along with books two and three.

August 9th 2010 by Liquid Silver Books Lucifer's Daughter (Princess of Hell, #1) by Eve LanglaisLucifer's Daughter
Rating: 5 of 5 stars

ROFLOL - I remember reading "Date with Death" and thinking how cool it would be to read more about Lucifer - well here he is :) Well more like here's his daughter - but he was in this book a lot more than the other one, and he hasn't changed a bit - well maybe he's a little softer when it comes to his daughter - but he's still the same old jerk that has you ROFLOL when it comes to Auric :)

This was a great book - really looking forward to starting Snowballs in Hell now -

This book starts off with Muriel - or better known as "Satana Muriel Baphomet, The Princess of Hell - or Lucifer's Daughter - the white sheep of the family :)

Muriel is defiantly the white sheep in the family. With her sisters being half succubi, and her being part human, there is a big difference. Muriel is a good girl, and by being a good girl, she is making Lucifer look like a bad parent. His minions in Hell are laughing at him. There have even been rumors he is no longer fit to be the Father of All Sin, since he can't even control his own daughter. HA!

And now at age 23, still a virgin, and saving herself for True Love, Lucifer is really on her case about getting some kind of Sin on.
As Muriel left her apartment to go to work, the wind picked up and started blowing her hair all around her face. She ran into a tall stranger, but before she could move her hair out of her face, he left. Being the owner of her own bar, Nexus, she met 3 new strangers as they came in - Muriel recognized the gruff voice of the one male as the one who she ran into on the street. Trying to ignore him, and his friends... and all they want is a beer -

That's how we met Auric - the tall dark and .. what is he?? He's not a demon? Not a shifter .. hum....

In this story, we watch how Muriel lets her guard down. She has been targeted for death many times, since she is Lucifer's daughter. But she's a strong fighter, and all of a sudden her powers are starting to get stronger...
When Auric encounters a demon in order to "save" Muriel, she sits back and enjoys the show of him swinging his blessed sword.

Things start to heat up. The Demon's keep showing up and Auric keeps trying to protect her. And their feelings start to heat up a little more with each glance ...

Great story. I laughed a lot - it was such a different type of story from those I usually read. It was refreshing to have something new.

January 14th 2011 by Amira Press Snowballs In Hell (Princess of Hell, #2) by Eve LanglaisSnowballs in Hell
Rating: 5 of 5 Stars

Holy Cow what a cliffhanger! I love it! This book made it into my favorite's folder - always up for a good Manage reading :)
So much has happened in Hell, and Muriel's life is turning in all sorts of crazy directions.

First of all - we start off hot and heavy with Muriel and our favorite Fallen Angel Auric -

See Muriel has been having really horrible dreams since that last night a month ago with the hooded evil thing. Night after night after night she wakes up screaming and in pain, and only Auric's familiar hands help coax her back into reality - brought on by a hot and sweaty morning nookie :) After that, it's easy for Muriel to pretend it's over with and everything will be ok now
That is until the Demon's start attacking her again. For a month, everything was quiet but on all of the nights for her to walk home from work by herself, she gets attacked - but more than a few demons. She uses up her magic to kills them all, and falls down drained when she sees a hooded figure coming towards her.
When she wakes up, Auric is furious that the attacks are starting up again, he's stressed out about Muriel's nightmares and flinching everything she see's someone in a hood or hears the word Master, and he doesn't know what to do - so he goes to hell and talks to Lucifer - together they gang up on Muriel and force her to see reasoning about going to see Lucifer's Manages -

The Manages find a geas in her - which is a spell or a curse that compels a person to act a certain way or experience things.
So one of the Manages tell her that the only way to get rid of the geas is to overpower it with her magic - and she needs a LOT of magic at one time - and just one Consort (i.e. Auric) wouldn't be enough - since her magic is based on her orgasms she needed helping getting more than a few at the same time..
Now it's Muriel's turn to get Furious! how could anyone even THINK she should be with another man - let alone how could Auric push her towards it? Didn't he love her??
Being the Princess of Hell, she really had her priorities messed up. Here she should have been rejoicing the orgies, but she was terrified of losing Auric. So her final answer was "no"
Waking up to Muriel's screaming nightmare again has Auric begging her to reconsider taking David as a second - David is Auric's best friend, and not to mention he cares for Muriel, so it only made sense to have him there with them.

But Muriel was still stubborn and refused to share herself with someone other than Auric.

Auric needs to go out of town and leaves David with Muriel. Of course Muriel is upset about no one thinking she could take care of herself. She doesn't understand that Auric is acting out of love for her instead of possessiveness.
But when David and Muriel head home from the Bar, they get attacked again. And again Muriel is left drained of her magic. and with Auric out of town... what should Muriel do??

David and her sister Bambi have a really good heart to heart talk with Muriel and help her see things a little differently. So she agrees to the Manage in order to get rid of the Geas that is causing her to fear everything.
When Lucifer showed up in her bedroom announcing it was snowing in hell - the term "when hell freezes over" became literal. and everyone who promised they'd do something "when hell freezes over" was in BIG TROUBLE ....
Oh wow this book is awesome!!!! I loved it! So many feelings and passion - and of course Lucifer is as funny as ever in this one :) Lol I think I love his character the best in the book - well of close to Muriel - I love how she's her own personal cheerleader when she talks out everything in her own mind.

The book leaves off in a really intense part - well the Epilogue does anyways - I'm really anxious for the next book though.

This is one series I hope Eve Langlais can expand for a few more books :) I don't think I'll get tired of this life :) Even my husband thought the fact of reading about Lucifer's Daughter was a great idea for a story :)

October 3rd 2011 by Liquid Silver Books Hell's Revenge (Princess of Hell #3) by Eve LanglaisHell's Revenge
Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awe - I can't believe it's over!! I want 3 more books of the Princess of Hell! Lol

This was my favorite of the 3 books (and I determined that before the four-some :)

There was so much humor in this, I can't even count my LOL moments. There were so many :) Between Lucifer, and Muriel's every day chaos going on in her head - lol I just love the way she thinks, and her mind gets off the subject and goes towards a totally different topic for no reason :)

The book starts off where the last one left off - Muriel's mom (Gaia, aka - Mother Earth ) interrupts dinner and announces that Muriel's pregnant - and of course, Muriel tries to kill her :)

Muriel doesn't want to believe that her mother of all people was right, so she goes over to her father's Mage (Nefertiti) - the one that has been helping her with her nympho magic. Just before she gets there, a big group of demon's attack, and she uses up her magic to kill them.. but then another group of demons show up,and she has no choice but to turn tail and run.. but she runs right into .. of all things, a Vampire - and this vampire, as sexy as he is - is also scary, vampires are dangerous , but luckily for Muriel, he wants to protect her. Her empty magic had somehow called him to her. After he kicks Demon butt, he gives her a kiss, and although her moral side of her knows it's wrong, her magic doesn't want to let go of him..
But just in time for David and Auric to pop in, she gets her head back in the game and off he goes...

Roflol - back at Nefertiti's house, she has naked men all over her house and with Muriel walking in with Auric's hands over her eyes and David growling at everyone in their way - lol but they do run off to speak with a few of the men to get some pointers to help please Muriel a little differently. After all, when Muriel's magic is stronger, it makes their whole family stronger - awe -

But she confirms the pregnancy and tells her that the daughter Muriel is carrying could destroy the world. She has so much power inside Muriel right now, even though she is only the size of her thumb.
but this child is growing very fast and her pregnancy will be very short.

So Muriel has a lot to think about - save the baby and kill the world, or kill the baby and save the world... ha ya - right, no pressure.

So now we're dealing with Muriel's pregnancy, her new Vampire admirer (whom David and Auric don't even know about yet) Her mother, and the evil master that was controlling Gabrielle in the last book -
With all these things going on - it's no wonder why Muriel needs to re-charge her magic so often *yummy*
Great story with lots of twists and turns and surprises , and the fun humor is just the added bonus :)
Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and Eve Langlais will write about "Lucifer's granddaughter" next :) Or maybe and his life with Mother Nature – the part he doesn’t remember.

Review: Half-Blood (Covenant #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

September 15th 2011 Half-Blood (Covenant, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi—pure-bloods—have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals—well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:

Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.

Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the pure-blooded Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

My Review:
Rating: 5/5 stars *Love*

Wow.  Everything about Half-Blood tickled and entertained the reader in me.  I dreaded turning the last page and found myself not wanting the story to end.... somehow hoping more pages would magically appear.  Hey, I deserve to have a delusional moment or two from time to time.

Storyline, foundation, characters, the whole nine yards held up to my expectations.  Reading the synopsis some months ago I was riveted and knew I was going to read Half-Blood.  Luckily, I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.  Well, I'm in love with Aiden St. Delphi and I have a feeling Seth is going to be a close runner up.... How is that for honesty?  Yes, I can be a bit fickle when it comes to my book crushes but I know I'm not the only one.

Alex, short for Alexandria "Defender of Man," is a character I immensely love.  She's so much fun to read.  Aiden is the guy I know will win hearts in a millisecond.  He has a background that has me grasping for more and a calm-quiet exterior that made me want to see what will get him going. Seth is quite the character as well.  He's more then meets the eye and the promise of more to come has me squirming in my computer chair.  Caleb is the world bestest friend and quite the man himself.  Not a love interest mind you but Alex has enough on her plate.  Alex and Caleb and their bff relationship is sweet to the core and they mesh so well together.  I enjoy the female-male attitudes playing off one another.  It helps to deepen the plot.

The only thing that strikes me and I must say this because I know it'll be on the minds of every avid reader.  Half-Blood is reminiscent of the Vampire Academy series.  In fact, after I read the synopsis months ago I immediately thought of Rose.  However, as I read on I came to the conclusion that Half-Blood holds its own in every shape and form.  The characters are alive and well in my mind and they can be no one else and no one else can be them.

All in all, Where is book two, Pure?  I want to read it now, lol. *^_^*  Very entertaining to the very core of me.

Jen's Review: Lucifer's Daughter (Princess of Hell #1) by Eve Langlais

August 9th 2010 by Liquid Silver Books      Lucifer's Daughter (Princess of Hell, #1) by Eve Langlais
Being Lucifer’s daughter can be hell.

Hi, I’m Muriel, the only white sheep in a sea of black ones, and a virgin to boot. I am determined to wait for love, but my dad, more commonly known as Lucifer, just wants me to stop being an embarrassment. I’m hoping the hunk that I met in my bar will turn out to be the one–just looking at him makes my insides melt like marshmallows over the coals of hell, but trusting is hard when it seems everyone I get close to ends up trying to kill me.

Not only am I dealing with an extreme case of lust, there’s a new threat in hell, one my dad says to ignore. Something easier said than done since it seems everywhere I turn demons are trying to kill me. But I’m okay with that, because one thing I’ve learned being a princess of hell is that sometimes I have to grab a demon by the horns and slap it around a bit.

A rebellion in hell, demon assassins and scorching kisses, could my life get any more interesting?
