Review: Fathers and Sons (Curran POV #2) by Gordon Andrews, Ilona Andrews

May 12th 2011 by Ilona Andrews, Inc       Fathers and Sons (Curran POV #2) by Gordon Andrews, Ilona Andrews
May 12th 2011 by Ilona Andrews, Inc
Amazon
The second volume of Curran POV takes place after the events of MAGIC BLEEDS and before MAGIC SLAYS.

Infuriated by Kate's treatment at the hands of the Pack, the Beast Lord demands an explanation. When words fail, claws and fangs must do the talking.

This is a very short story, 6,000 words.

As always, you do not have to purchase this story. It is available free for the download at our website at the following link: Click Here

If you are new to Kate Daniels series, this story probably won't make sense as it is written for the fans of the series to fill in the gaps between the existing books.
LLLKINDLE 60x90WOW.  WOW.  WOW.

Fathers and Sons is the embodiment of 'short and sweet.'

Curran is the Beast Lord and I have zero doubts to that.  Kate is the epitome of my all time favorite kind of heroine.  All inclusive- attitude, style, morals, skills and physical presence.  Even Kate's character background appeals to the reader in me.

Fathers and Sons picks right up where the scene cuts off in POV One.  It is astronomical and among the best 6,000 words I will ever read.  In fact, I would buy a full length novel of Curran's POV of every scene.   It's so cool to know what Kate was thinking and then what Curran was thinking at the same time.  *Mind blowing*

Who's gearing up for the next Kate Daniels book?

May 31st 2011 by Ace Magic Slays (Kate Daniels #5) by Ilona Andrews May 12th 2011 by Ilona Andrews, Inc Fathers and Sons (Curran POV #2) by Gordon Andrews, Ilona Andrews

Come May 31st I will resort to hair pulling and finger biting if there is any one in my way at the New Paperback shelf in my local Borders.  I will get my copy of Magic Slays come hell or high water.

So the real question remains.... How do you plan to kick off the newest release?  Or what have you done?
Anyone reread the series?  Well, I have a great idea.  Read Part Two of Curran's POV.  I all but licked my Kindle when reading Part One.  I did, however, hug my kindle but that's not weird,  Right?

Anyhow, I am ready to dig in... Wish my Kindle luck as I undertake The Beast Lord.  *hahahaha*

Review: Accidental Abduction by Eve Langlais

Currently, Accidental Abduction is being given away.  Click Here.

May 25th 2011 by Eve Langlais         Accidental Abduction by Eve Langlais
May 25th 2011
Amazon
Abducted by a space pirate, she fights the temptation to let him plunder her goods.

A boyfriend’s attempted murder leaves Megan floundering in the ocean. Sinking without hope, the bright light she sees in the night sky isn’t her doorway to heaven, but rather the beginning of her accidental abduction by a space pirate. While thankful of his rescue, Megan stays true to form and just can’t keep her mouth shut, even when he keeps threatening to kill her--or auction her off to the highest bidder. Even odder, despite her decision to not get involved with her wickedly hot captor, she can’t help craving his touch.

Tren retired from his job as a mercenary so he could enjoy life, but he never counted on the boredom of normalcy. The acquisition of rare items has somewhat filled the void, but his accidental abduction of an outspoken earthling, who doesn’t know when to shut up, turns his life upside. Her fiery spirit draws him while at the same time drives him insane. Struggling with his urges, he must decide-- throttle her barbarian neck or ravish her delectably lush body?

Despite what his heart tries to tell him, he’s determined to sell her to the highest bidder even as he seduces her body. However, despite his best intentions, he discovers he can’t let her go. And when a foe from his past thinks to steal her, he’ll do anything to get her back.

LLLKINDLE 60x90 My Review:
Rating: 5/5 stars

I will never see the color purple the same again but, hey, purple popsicles need love to.  =)

Accidental Abduction is my first Eve Langlais experience and I am beyond impressed.  As soon as I completed this title I looked over to my husband and told him I will be reading more from this author.

Listed as Science Fiction / Fantasy Romance there is one thing this book is and that is romance.  Within 100+ pages Eve takes her reader to a whole other world.  The romance is not a typical boy meets girl, for that I am grateful.  Eve gives us an alien warrior slash Mercenary (Tren) and a quick-mouthed human (Megan).  The results fills each page with heat and humor.

There is one highlight I'd like to make. Megan does not shy away from violence that comes with space traveling with one of the most impressive alien men.  Tern is at the top of the food chain and so he is a target in himself.  There were times where Tren had to deal a heavy blow and Megan knew there was no other way.  There was no cowering or insisting there is another way.  No wasted words- I loved it.

To come..... At the end of Accidental Abduction readers are treated to a taste of what's to follow.  To my delight, I enjoyed what I read and will be waiting the release of Intentional Abduction.

Review: Magical Gains (Magic series #1) by Nicola E. Sheridan

March 8th 2011 by Eternal Press        Magical Gains by Nicola E. Sheridan
March 8th 2011 by Eternal Press
Amazon
Imran is sexy. He is available, but taking anything from him is illegal and could land you in prison or, at the very least, with an extraordinarily large tax bill. Imran is a Genie and Primrose a government employee, and in a world where magic is heavily governed to ensure equality for all, their relationship appears doomed from the start. When Primrose finds herself the unwilling mistress of a hot male Genie, her stifling suburban lifestyle is shattered. Thrust into the steamy Free Zone, filled with lascivious Satyrs and treacherous Sirens, Primrose discovers that three wishes can give her anything she needs, but can they give what she truly wants?
Magical Gains is my second genie book and the verdict is still out.

N. Sheridan does a fine job creating Imran's character.  Imran has a distinct charm and flair to him and it's clearly written among his dialogue.  Primrose is a work in progress.  She has a lot of growing into herself to do but throughout the story she does just that.  She finds her self-confidence and is surprisingly strong.

The world setting itself is original.  Genies and other magical beings are not a secret to the human population but they are kept under heavy scrutiny.  Tools/technology designed to pick up magical traces give this book a slight advance or in-the-near-future feel to it.  Then there is the dangerous Free Zones that's brimming with all walks of creatures.  It is quite the mixture.

Overall, Magical Gains was an okay read for me.  It was interesting enough to keep reading on but I have a hard time with books dealing with mostly magic.  That is..... little physical action from the hero and heroine.  I must admit I love guns-a-blazing and knives-a-slashing deal.

My Rating: 3

October 7th 2011 by Eternal Press Magical Creations (Magical #2) by Nicola E. SheridanWith a book two in the works for October 7th 2011, I will be adding it to my New Releases list in hopes of grabbing it to read.  Magical Creations will be focused on Omar, Iman's brother.  Omar is quite the scorned one with a grudge in his heart so I do not doubt he will put on a good show.

Here is the blurb found on N. Sheridan's website:
Sometimes freedom comes with a painful price.

Omar is a ‘masterless’ Genie and freedom has given him an Achilles heel no enemy can miss. When desperation drives him to search for services of a Nephilim – with the ability to see, touch and take souls - Omar finds the sassy Antigone Watson who is running from demons of her own.

With magic a commodity to be governed, sold and stolen just like any other, the Magical Mafia are always on the look-out for new talent and soon the hunt is on. Together, Omar and Antigone realize that weakness of the flesh can be remedied by strength from the soul and sometimes true love can be born of dreams...
