Again, welcome Tessa Adams who is sharing her RT experience. Thank you!
I just got back from the Romantic Times Convention in Los Angeles, and I have to tell you how much fun I had. It was my first time at RT, so I wasn’t sure what to expect—especially after some of the stories I’ve heard through the years—but it was wonderful. I had a great time meeting my fans, hanging with other authors and seeing my mom (who lives in Los Angeles)
Some of the things I really enjoyed about the conference were:
Some of the things I really enjoyed about the conference were:
- Hanging with my writer friends, who I normally only get to see at RWA. I loved spending time with Beth Kery, Julie James, Veronica Wolff, Sylvia Day, Mary Wine, Lauren Dane and so many other amazing writers. I always learn something hanging out with them.
- Being on a panel with the amazing Megan Hart, Lauren Dane, Beth Kery and Helen Kay Dimon—These are some of the most amazing romance novelists I know and getting a chance to sit with them and talk to aspiring writers about how to craft deeply emotional love scenes was way too much fun.
- Rooming with Ellora’s Cave author, Katie Dunneback, who is so nice and so much fun, even when I fall asleep in the middle of a conversation after one Cosmo too many ;)
- Meeting the very talented and brilliant group of YA novelists who attended the conference. Their panels on Marketing YA and YA and feminism were some of the best I’ve ever been to. I love that these are the women writing novels for America’s teens.
- The RT booksigning: At first, I was a little worried about how long the signing was (over three hours) but it passed so quickly I was disappointed when it was over. It was so much fun signing my dragon books and talking to fans about the Dragon’s Heat series—plus seeing all the teens who showed up for Teen Day. Watching them grow giddy after speaking with their favorite authors was wonderful, and something that made even the most jaded authors smile.
Well, that’s how I spent the first week in April. How about you? Did you do anything fun or exciting or new last week? Leave a comment for a chance to win Dark Embers, the first Dragon Heat’s book.
*Be sure to leave an email as well. Opens to US/ Canada. Ends 4/25/11

The Books
A new erotic paranormal series, starring dragon shapeshifters, kicks off with a very sexy debut...
Prince Dylan MacLeod is one of the last pure-blood dragon shape- shifters-and ruler of a dying race, the Dragonstar clan. It falls to him to protect his people and their ancient magic. But he has one important duty: to provide an heir...
Like all dragons, Dylan, who has a dark, rampant sexual appetite, can only procreate with his destined mate-for whom he's searched for the last five hundred years. But his quest is delayed when a disease sweeps through the Dragonstars, and Dylan must venture to the human world to find a cure. He tracks down bio-chemist Phoebe Quillum, never imagining the beautiful scientist would be the mate he's been seeking. But even with the fate of the clan on their shoulders, Phoebe and Dylan are overcome by their sexual desire.
Their passion turns to something truer, but when Phoebe is kidnapped by Dylan's oldest enemy, he must risk everything for his love and his clan... Read an Excerpt
Deep in the New Mexico desert there is a secret race on the brink of extinction—the pure-blood shapeshifters of the Dragonstar clan. And they have one last, desperate hope for survival…
Quinn Maguire is a powerful Dragonstar healer at a tragic loss, unable to cure the insidious disease killing off his people. Yet even in such dire circumstances the conservative Quinn is secretly disapproving of the alternative: Dr. Jasmine Kane, enlisted by the head of the Dragonstar clan to help abort the virus. She is a wild card. She is an outsider. She is human.
Decked out in black leather and a tough attitude, Jasmine clashes with Quinn in more ways than one. And when destiny chooses her for his Mate, he doesn't know whether to rejoice or rebel. Because while Jasmine makes him burn hotter than any woman--dragon or human-- ever has, their differences make a relationship impossible.
But when a rival infiltrates the clan and attacks Jasmine, Quinn becomes desperate. Jasmine is now the first human to be infected with the disease—and Quinn must do everything he can to find a cure, and save the woman he has grown to love. Read Hidden Excerpt

What a cool experience. The RT Convention is definitely the place to be for readers like myself so I hope to make it out to one.
I've always wanted to go, maybe one day! tWarner419@aol.com
Watching the RT tweets was painful, wish I was there too :) Instead I plated strawberries with my daughter and watched movies with the hubs.

Thanks for sharing your RT experience with us. It sounds like it was very exciting and lots of fun. I wish it was closer as I would have loved to attend. I was trying to catch as much news coming out of RT as possible and have really enjoyed seeing some of the photos on FB. Thanks for the great giveaway.

It was a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend it if RT comes to your area :) I was so bad about tweeting when I was there-- will have to do better next time, but my wifi was all messed up most of the conference.
We took 5 tween girls skiing last week so that was our biggest adventure from last week.
I have not read this series but it looks scrumptious!

I've been sick with a cold, so I didn't do a thing the first week of April. Hopefully I'll get over it soon. I'd love to go to a conference sometime and meet some authors.
