I found this book while perusing Penguin Group USA's website. I am
a sucker for an interesting cover and this is without a doubt interesting.... although, I prefer no face shots because when the description doesn't add up to the cover model it annoys me.

....in my mailbox.... is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren to show case our weekly book haul. Although I try not think about it much, this meme has another purpose which is to show me concrete proof of my addiction by having to list them all here. LOL!! Tough life of a Book Addict for sure :P I wonder if there is such a thing as 'a good addiction.'
Oh well, on to my yummy yummy finds.
Just one picture today because I am swamped. I figure if I finished my actual work (you know the one that pays the bills and feeds my book addiction) then I can move onto reading more of Catching Fire- my current read- I stopped at the part where Gale is in the town.... I want to say more but I's hate to give away spoilers. Although, I am The Spoiler Queen (post for another day).

description: An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love--and face the hardest decision of his life.
Next Wednesday- which is my birthday- my work will be having me preview/review 'Dear John' the movie (2010). I have read a handful of Nicholas Sparks books and own all but one book off his. I am excited to meet John and Savannah on the big screen. Right now I am reading Dear John.... finally the kick in the butt I needed to do it...... and I am at the part where things get stale. Sparks more so tells rather then shows me what's going on. I am bummed that the end of Part 1.... John and Savannah are in love and dreaming of one another under the full moon to the start of Part 2 where 911 begins and all of a sudden they are on the outs.
Well, back to my excitement of meeting John and Savannah on the big screen... rather Mr.Tatum... I mean Tyree. hehehehe!!! One and the same... kind of!! =P
Update 1.30.10:
I went to bed with tears in my eyes. The ending is a far cry from the endings I embrace. Bitter-sweet for sure but for a 'romance-soul mate-forever 'sap like me it's more bitter then sweet.
Right now I am absolutely pissed off at Savannah for not waiting the stupid 9 months. Then, I am pissed at John for not fighting harder.
For my husband- I would go to the end of the earth. Giving up would have been more painful then waiting.
Grrrrrrr!!!
But I love Tim.
*tight lipped* I can't say more w/o spoiling anything else!
Oh, I will say that I thought the book was slightly awkward. I don;t doubt you call fall in love that fast... love occurs in mysterious ways.... but I felt like there were missing pieces. And I would have preferred more showing rather then John explaining. For instance, more letter excerpts. Also, Nicholas tends to give an overwhelming amount of back story- which is a hit and miss for me.
All in all, I enjoyed reading this book.
This cover is amazing. I feel like taking *deep breath* every time I look at it.
I have been reading the blurbs over and over at various blogs and book sites and it really gets more and more interesting as I do....

I checked my local library and I'm sad to see that they have not picked it up... yet. I really have to find out if they have a way for people to request books to purchase.

I read this book last year after I stumbled upon a copy. Other then books I love music and Rachel adds a playlist in the book.... whuch I thought was so cool. In fact, I made it into a list on playlist.com
Description: Shelby’s summer plans go totally awry when her horrible stepmother sends her off to “brat camp” as punishment for one too many broken curfews. Camp is full of spoiled rich kids, obnoxious counselors wanting Shelby to talk about her feelings, and a totally inhumane “no cell phones” policy.
Things start looking up, though, when Shelby meets fellow camper (and son of a rock star) Austin Bridges III. But soon she realizes there’s more to Austin than crush material—his family has a dark secret, and he wants Shelby’s help guarding it. Shelby knows that bad boys get her into trouble…but who is she to turn her back on a guy in need, especially such a good-looking one?
Heather Davis’s debut novel mixes together irresistible characters, a pesky full moon, and a delicious taste of the supernatural.

"Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Katniss' sister is chosen by lottery, she steps up to go in her place."
***** "District 12. Where you can starve to death in safety" pg 6
The reviews on this book have been aces all around.... every blog that mentioned Hunger Games gave it praise.
I can see why.
Katniss is everything we should strive to be. I am currently on page 115 and I am in awe.
I know this book will tear me from the inside out. My childhood was complicated and so I can relate to having to grow up so fast and be more then the average teen.
I think it is safe to say that I will enjoy this book immensely.
Have you read this title or the series! If so, link up so others can read your thoughts!
Kelley Armstrong is one of my all time favorite authors.
"Women of the Otherworld" series are excellent!!!
Kelley signed all of my books (some are not pictured).
When I met her back in March 2009 at my local library I only brought up 3 books from my Kelley Stash. I sat in the front row so see seen them all.... when I went up she tells me to bring them all. I was so
excited..... I didnt want to tire her so I was only going to do a small portion.
There was a raffle give away...and I won a copy of her first YA book.... "The Summoning" in the Darkest Powers Series:
Here she is sitting on the table reading an excerpt from "Frostbitten" which came out in October and then she chatted with all of us!!!
I have read some really great books over the past year since I have rediscovered my passion for reading.
However, even before that I read some really great books.
**Quick back story: the Twilight Saga reminded me how much adventure there is to be discovered within the pages of a book. I relearned that words strung together can create the perfect harmony of a story and not just plain print.
